Clinical Hypnotherapy & Addiction Therapy
What is Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy? Hypnosis is certainly NOT sleep. Hypnosis is simply a technique for inducing a trance, which is a very relaxed, still, daydream-like state, in which the conscious mind can be bypassed and the subconscious accessed for positive suggestions. A trance or hypnotic state is something most of us experience daily. For example, while driving you may have had the feeling of arriving somewhere but not remember the journey at all. Or perhaps you have been so engrossed in something, like reading a book or watching TV, that you notice nothing else, including the passage of time. These are everyday examples of being in a trance when your conscious mind is engaged elsewhere, enabling your subconscious mind to take over for a while. Whilst in a trance you will feel extremely relaxed and may be unaware of your surroundings. In this relaxed state your conscious mind will be distracted, enabling positive suggestion to your subconscious mind, which is more able to accept suggestions and new ideas. Every memory we have is retained in the sub-conscious mind. Fears, phobias, anxieties, behaviour, habits all exist in the subconscious mind and Hypnotherapy can help to positively change or remove them if they are troublesome. Hypnosis is such a pleasant and natural state, that most clients feel relaxed and refreshed after a session. Hypnotherapy is a very powerful and effective way to get positive results with a wide range of issues. In fact anything with a psychological, emotional or behavioural element. For example:
Children's Issues Many problems are not exclusive to adults of course. Children's problems such as bed-wetting,shyness, eating disorders, bullying & anxiety can be successfully treated with hypnosis. Children tend to have much more active imaginations, and this lends itself to them being more suggestible in hypnosis. All treatment with children is of course carried out strictly in the presence of the parents or legal guardians. Neuro Linguistic Programming is an approach to communication, personal development, and psychotherapy created by Richard Bandler & John Grinder in California in the 1970's. They claim a connection between the neurological processes (Neuro), language (Linguistic) and behavioural patterns learned through experience (Programming), and that these can be changed in order to achieve specific goals in life. Bandler and Grinder claim that the skills of exceptional people can be 'modelled' using NLP, then those skills can be acquired by anyone. They also claim that NLP can be used to treat problems such as phobias, depression, habit disorder, psychosomatic illness, allergies and learning disorders. N.L.P. has been adopted by many Hypnotherapists and can be an effective complimentary therapy to help people think more clearly and change their limiting beliefs. Hypnotherapy sessions: Hypnotherapy is a positive and fairly rapid technique. It will generally require clients, on average, to have between 1 to 5 sessions, occasionally more, depending on their individual needs. On the first visit I will discuss what you want to gain from your treatment. I will also explain hypnosis in much more detail, answering any questions that you may have. The initial meeting is likely to take up to an hour and is completely free of charge. It is important for you to ask as many questions as possible so that you can decide whether the treatment is right for you. In the second meeting I will have prepared the session specifically to suit your personal needs and we can begin the process of making positive change. The requirement for further sessions will depend on each individual case. Counselling & Life Coaching: The Counselling process is a structured, step by step way to help clients better understand and cope with the issues they are struggling with. It is designed to help the client become more aware of their thoughts, emotions and feelings relating to their problem. The counselling process allows the client to conceive positive alternative choices and positive decisions in order to move beyond their issues and achieve their life goals. Life Coaching focuses on clarifying, motivating and supporting you in taking control of your own life and turning it into the life you really want. You may sense that you want more than life is currently giving you, or perhaps have concerns in some of the following areas:
ADDICTION THERAPY: Addiction, dependency or compulsion can be treated using a combination of different therapy techniques and modalities, Addiction therapy focuses on the reasons behind the addictive behaviour rather than the behaviour itself, working with the client to identify the triggers, empower and inspire change and prevent relapse.
